1. 8 - 2 × 3 = 18 (he calculated 8 - 2 = 6 first, then 6 × 3 = 18).
2. 20 ÷ 5 × 2 = 2 (he calculated 5 × 2 = 10 first, then 20 ÷ 10 = 2).
