Answer
What a thing to walk out of that houe with — a deck omeone ele' hand held for year, and your reached for firt. There' a real inheritance in that, whether you read them a ymbol or a omething more.
To help you identify it, the detail that tell u the mot:
- A photo of the back
- A photo of one Major Arcana face (the Magician or High Priete are bet)
- Any viible text on the card, box, or any booklet tucked inide
- Card tock feel — gloy or matte, thick or thin, gold or ilver edge
- Any mark or handwriting on the card or box. A family deck often ha the original reader' note
Send what you've got and I'll take a real look.
One thing for the beginner-with-no-book part: mot deck can be read with the tandard Rider-Waite meaning even when the artwork i different. The Major Arcana don't change between deck. The uit (Cup, Pentacle, Sword, Wand) and the court card (Page, Knight, Queen, King) keep their core meaning acro RWS-derivative deck. So you're not tarting from zero — a free RWS reference online cover maybe 80% of what' in any RWS-derivative deck.
