My 6th grader got several problems wrong on today's math worksheet:
For converting 1/5 to a decimal, he wrote 0.5 (instead of 0.2).
For converting 1/4 to a decimal, he wrote 0.4 (instead of 0.25).
When I asked him why, he said 'there's a 5 on the bottom, so it's 0.5, and there's a 4 on the bottom, so it's 0.4.'
